He's one of the best barefoot water skiiers in history, but Zenon Bilas wasn't sure whether he could make a comeback after more than a dozen years off the water. The seven-time national champion is now 50 years old but tells Growing Bolder, "I have no age."
He never really left the industry, instead spending his time focusing the spotlight on other skiiers, including "Banana" George Blair. Now, Wendy Chioji jumps in the boat to see if Bilas still has what it takes to climb the national ranks himself.

Posted 7:39am September 13th, 2012Great piece, good to see Bilas in your focus. Obviously I am a fan of his and know you couldn't have chosen a better subject to illustrate your theme
Bilas has been at the veryVERY top of the barefoot tricking, competitor coaching and teaching, plus all round waterskiing instruction world for more than 25 years.
In confirmation of the theme, Growing Bolder, of your publication and of Bilas' "aggressive" comment, I too am an ummmmmmmmmmm, mature man who has noticed intensification of my desire to excel in these end-moment decades. I guess knowledge an end is coming can ratchet up the effort to do a good job.
Moreover, I've been at waterskiing, all disciplines, for sixty-more years and can attest to the fitness and theraputic value harvested from participation.
Indeed, there's no doubt Bilas will accomplish his competition goals ... whatever they are today, tomorrow, next year and beyond. There's no one in the sport as technically focused and proficient as Zenon Bilas ... plus, no one better to bring the value of the sport to people of the Growing Bolder age.
