It may have been more pressure than anyone could take. In at mere matter of weeks, Susan Boyle was catapulted from a homely nobody to a global pop culture icon. It came complete with a stinging backlash in the final week of the Britain's Got Talent competition.

Rumors swirled that she was going to walk away before the finals, that she had numerous temper tantrums, that she was unpleasant and angry. But she did show up for the last episode. And when the final results were announce, Susan seemed humbled and relieved. "The best people won," she said.  "They are very entertaining lads, I wish you all the best."

But the next day, she was admitted to the hospital. Officials say she was suffering from exhaustion. After her performance, the judges almost seemed to apologize to her for the stress and pressure the show put her through.
