In between Meals (snacks!)

If you're following a 6 meal a day plan you know all about these meals between meals. To some these small meals are just as important as the traditional 3. They keep your metabolism going, they replenish your system with nourishment to build and maintain muscle mass, and they make you less famished once you make it to your big meal (meaning you'll eat less). Please share your healthy snack recipes here for all our members to see.

    Here is a simple one. I usually use this one as a meal/snack in between lunch and dinner.
    • 1 - Pita cut in half and then opened up (I use whole wheat, found in Publix deli area)
    • Spread some hummus (whatever kind you like) inside each half
    • Slide in some sliced up tomato's
    • Then add a liberal amount of sprouts
    • enjoy

    I've just found this site and need some protein for a vegetarian.  Do already simply crave peanut butter and eat a lot of it.  Love the idea of the pita with hummus, tomato and sprouts.  Do you have any more ideas for the snacks or in-between meals?  I don't eat any meat or eggs.  Would appreciate your sharing some ideas or I will just keep my spoon in the peanut butter jar.
