      Big Black Bear In Yard!

      Really BIG black bear just came into the yard, here in Homer - which is pretty common for where we live, but this one was really big. Tried to get into our bear-proof garbage cans without any luck, chased off the cranes, grazed on a little of the green grass, and is now headed for town.

      In the meadow yesterday we observed a juvenille bear digging for clams on the tidal flats. Beside him at approximately 50 feet was a fox digging for clams as well. They worked at this for quite awhile being very successful and consuming many clams. After some time, the bear and fox were getting closer and closer until they were only feet apart. The fox then started to inch closer to the bear...
