Memorial Day - 2013
Placing flowers on graves was a custom in ancient times. This
custom was followed in the United States going all the way back to the founding
of our country. However, the beginnings of what we now call Memorial Day got
its start during the Civil War. It was then that various groups and
organizations, both north and south, paid homage to those who died during that
