It was a mess of Olympic proportions. An all-electric competitor replaced the venerable Zamboni, but the ice at the speed skating venue at the 2010 Olympics was a disaster. A Zamboni, which made its Olympic debut exactly 50 years ago, came to the rescue.

The picture that we're using for our profile was taken in April 2006 in Paris, outside an ice cream/crepe stand. I ate crepes every single day I was in the City of Light -- butter and sugar, fruit, chocolate, nutella ... and the list goes on. The ice cream and gelato were fabulous, too. So, I'm sitting out in front of the Costco in Altamonte Springs this past Monday, Jan. 15, waiting for my daughter-in-law and my 2 granddaughters to meet me for some pizza. (I love their pizza!)
