Meet the Hosts

Marc Middleton is Founder and CEO of Growing Bolder and host of Growing Bolder’s TV and Radio shows. A multiple Emmy Award-winning broadcaster, speaker, and activist, Marc is one of the world’s leading voices on the changing culture of aging. He’s the author of Growing Bolder, Defy the Cult of Youth Live with Passion and Purpose and Rock Stars of Aging and director the Emmy-nominated film, Conquering Kilimanjaro. In his free time he enjoys painting and is a 7-time Masters Swimming world record holder.
Secily Wilson is an on-air contributor for Growing Bolder. With more than 20 years of experience in the news business, she’s worked in markets that include Macon, Georgia; Tampa, Florida and Orlando, Florida. A two-time stroke survivor, Secily is passionate about educating everyone, especially women, about the warning signs of stroke and surviving and thriving in the aftermath. She is the author of the bestselling book: “She Said the P Word” and the founder of the nonprofit group, WOW Legacy Group, which is on a mission to empower, educate, inspire and transform the lives of women facing life adversity.
Bill Shafer is the Emmy-nominated cohost of Growing Bolder TV and radio shows. A veteran broadcaster, with 40 years’ experience, Shafer is a nationally respected storyteller, who was named one of the top 50 people in Orlando TV who made an impact. He is also an executive vice president of Growing Bolder, and his Bolder Backstage series of stories has garnered attention for giving viewers rare and intimate access to some of the most beloved musicians in rock history. A prolific writer, he has also contributed to the company’s magazine and online stories. Prior joining Growing Bolder at is founding in 2007, he spent 25 years at WESH-TV, excelling as a news anchor, sports anchor, feature reporter and celebrity interviewer.
Amy Sweezey
After a full-time career in broadcast meteorology, Amy Sweezey joined Growing Bolder as an on-air contributor and freelance writer. She was awarded “Broadcaster of the Year” by the National Weather Association in 2018 and other prestigious recognitions, such as numerous “Best Weathercast” and “Best Weather Reporting” awards from the Florida Associated Press. She has also authored two children’s books about weather, It Never, Ever Snows in Florida and Let’s Talk Weather, TV Forecasting: Behind the Scenes, and created two weather workbooks for elementary students.
