Many of us collect and proudly display treasured objects because of their special significance. The legendary Roger McGuinn collects small transistor radios. The Byrds' founder describes how a childhood gift changed his life and inspired music history.

Several of those look familiar to ones that we had around the house.  I didn't start listening to rock n' roll until the mid-60's, but my favorite station for much of that time was KAAY-AM in Little Rock, Arkansas (back when "clear channel" in radio was a good thing!)  Also, WLS-Chicago and WLW-Cincinnati... good memories!

hey roger -- i had (might even still have) one of those regency radios, too.  and my grandfather gave it to me ...  and I used to listen to that chicago station, too -- thanks for activating such a special memory -- and thanks for all the info, too.  have fun w/your collection.
