If you once wore platform shoes or bell-bottom jeans, you can thank disco queen Gloria Gaynor. She didn't invent disco, but she certainly put it on the map with her anthem, "I Will Survive."
Gloria says she knew right away when she read the lyrics that it was a hit song. She said she knew that everybody would be able to relate to the song and make it the theme of their lives.
Her record company wasn't so sure. She shares how she had to fight to get them to back the song and what they wanted to push instead.
Plus, Gloria recalls what it was like to get her start in the music business at the age of 19 and how she had to learn how to grow up fast.
