The entire world now knows Michael Phelps but this short clip was recorded at the Olympic Trials in 2000 just a few minutes after an unknown 15-year-old qualified for his first Olympic team by taking second in the 200 meter butterfly.

Of course, Phelps has become the greatest Olympic champion of all time, breaking the following records in Beijing:

• Most golds in a single Olympics (8)
• Most golds in an Olympic career (14)
• Most golds in individual events (9)
• Most medals by a male in an Olympic career (16)
