25 years ago, at the age of 56, fighter pilot, daredevil and American aviation hero Joseph P. Kittinger Jr. made aviation history when he became the first person to cross the Atlantic Ocean, solo in a balloon. We visit with him to commemorate the event and reminisce with a true American pioneer.

Quite the amazing life you have. My father was a fighter pilot instructor during the war and has a "gold  caterpillar with a ruby eye" pin.  I  am sure you know the meaning of that. When I made my first jump (one and only jump) he was so proud of me and said I deserved the caterpillar. I would love to go up in a balloon (but not cross the Atlantic). That is on my "bucket list" . Hope to do it some day. Keep having fun!
