UPDATE! We had so many requests from people wanting us to check in with Rachel that we dropped by and found out some big news. Rachel, now 91, is an international sensation and in this latest video, she shares her travel plans and -- shockingly! -- hands over the keys to her beloved car.
This is an unusual love story involving an 89-year-old woman and her beloved Chariot. The two have been together for decades and traveled more than 540,000 miles across this nation's highways and side streets.

Many of you have asked for an update on Rachel and her beloved Chariot, so here it is! http://growingbolder.com/media/technology/vehicles/rachel-veitch-international-575909.html For starters, she's a little nervous to have Growing Bolder CEO Marc Middleton behind the wheel of her beloved Chariot.

Posted 4:55 pm February 17th, 2010Hey, 1OldFordMan, have you checked out the GBTV Show that Marc and Bill (and Katy) hosted from inside Rachel's car as she drove them around Orlando? It was a fun challenge to shoot. If you click on the "Details" tab on this page, you'll find all the videos we've done with Rachel.

Posted 3:33 pm February 17th, 2010Marc, thanks for the update. Tell her I'll be praying for her & the surgery. Glad to hear Chariot has been nursed back to health. Any comment on the current mileage or just wait for the update? Any idea when it'll be? I definitely want to see it.

Posted 7:26 pm February 15th, 2010Hey 1OldFordMan, Great question! I spoke with Rachel a couple of days ago and Chariot is running better than ever. In fact, a major car show is flying Rachel and transporting Chariot to the show this spring. The bad news is Rachel is having shoulder surgery soon and will have to stop driving for several weeks. We'll shoot an update with Rachel very soon. Stay tuned!

Posted 11:52 am February 11th, 2010The lady obviously lives in a state where it doesn't snow, because there isno rust anywhere on the car. Also, auto air consitioning was an option in 1965 and this car has it, so she must live in a warm, southern state.
She keeps a log book od all maintenance bills, proof of everything that had been done to service the car. This is a good practice for everyone to follow. It is a way to "stay ahead" of routine maintenance. Long engine life is possible with regular oil changes.
As this car can be classed as "antique,' where is she getting replacement parts for it? The dealers will no longer carry them, and aftermarket parts will also be scarce. Must she order parts from an old car specialist?
All-in-all, an inspiring story. Yes, you CAN buy once, and drive it forever!
