Humana and Growing Bolder are celebrating life in The Villages with a selfie contest that showcases the passions of its residents who are living bold, active lives. The New 65+ Selfie Photography Contest celebrates the achievements and aspirations of older adults who, no matter their age or abilities have found unique ways to experience joy and live a life with passion and purpose.

As we age passion powers purpose, creativity, connectivity, health, wellbeing and active longevity. Submit a selfie photo of yourself engaged in anything that brings you joy while in The Villages – playing sports, painting, writing, running, playing an instrument, cooking, gardening, or any number of hobbies and interests. We’ll feature monthly winners in The Villages Daily Sun and across Growing Bolder platforms, with a grand prize winner announced in December.

The New 65+ Selfie Photography Contest

Official Rules

THIS IS NOT A GAME OF CHANCE. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

1. Entry Period.  Entries in The New 65+ Selfie Photography Contest (the “Contest”) must be submitted between 12:01 a.m. ET on August 9, 2025, and 11:59 p.m. ET on November 30, 2025.  The Contest Administrator’s computer system will be the official time clock for the Contest.

2. Eligibility. You may enter individually, or with one (1) Co-Entrant.  Entrants and Co-Entrants must be legal residents of the United States.  If you enter as an individual, you must be at least 65 years of age or older.  If you enter with a Co-Entrant, one or both of you must be at least 65 years of age or older.  Co-Entrants must be at least 18 years of age or older and of the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence.  Employees of Sponsor or Administrator, or their affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, and divisions (the “Promotion Entities”), their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to participate in the Contest.  Entrant (if individual) or at least one Co-Entrant (if entering together) must live in The Villages for at least thirty (30) days during the 2025 calendar year (need not be consecutive days).

3. How to Enter.

What to submit. Submit a selfie depicting you (and your Co-Entrant, if you have one) engaged in an activity that brings you joy in The Villages.  The photo should show you living life to the fullest, in your unique way, doing something that contributes to a healthier, active lifestyle, while living in The Villages.

4. Additional Requirements for Entries:

  1. Entry must be a “selfie” taken by the person (if an individual Entrant) or one of the two people (if Co-Entrants) depicted in the photo.  No person other than an Entrant or Co-Entrant should appear in the photo.
  2. Entry must be submitted in either JPG or PNG format, in a file no larger than 50MB.
  3. Entry must be your original work, must not have been previously published, and must not have won previous awards.
  4. Entry must not violate the rights of any third party, including but not limited to intellectual property rights and rights of privacy/publicity.  Entry should not contain the personally identifying information of any third party.
  5. Entry must not contain, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, any content that:
    1. is sexually explicit or suggestive, obscene, offensive, profane, or pornographic, or that contains nudity;
    2. is violent; is derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional, or age group; endorses any form of hate or hate group;
    3. is defamatory of people or companies;
    4. depicts alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons; unsafe or dangerous activities; political messages;
    5. contains messages inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will of Sponsor;
    6. that violates any law.

5. Limited Grant of Rights. By entering the Contest, you (i) acknowledge and agree that your Entry, if deemed eligible, will appear on the Contest microsite, social and print media, and (ii) grant Sponsor and its agents a nonexclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable right to utilize your Entry, for purposes related to The New 65+ campaign, in any media now known or hereafter invented, without compensation or notification, except as prohibited by law.  You waive any right to inspect or approve the manner in which the Entry is used in connection with these purposes, including without limitation editing, cropping, or overlaying the image with text.  You further agree that Sponsor shall have the right, but not the obligation, to use your name and/or photograph for the same purposes.

6. Selection and Notification. of Winner (or Co-Winners). There will be four (4) monthly Winners, and one (1) Grand Prize Winner.  All eligible Entries will be judged by an independent professional photographer, using the following criteria:

  • Representing the Contest Theme (50%)
  • Style (25%)
  • Creativity (25%)

In the event of a tie, the Entry scoring highest in Representing the Contest Theme will be deemed the Winning Entry.  Should there still be a tie, the judge will choose the Entry they believe to be the best overall.  Monthly Winners (or Co-Winners) will be notified in or around the first week of each following month.  The Grand Prize Winner will be notified in or around the third week of December.

Except where prohibited by law, Winner (or Co-Winners if the winning Entry was submitted by Co-Entrants) will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Compliance with Official Rules, Publicity Release, and Release of Liability no later than ten (10) days after notification.  If this requirement is not met, an alternate winning Entry will be chosen.

7. Prize. The Winner (or Co-Winners if the winning Entry was submitted by Co-Entrants) will receive national exposure as part of The New 65+ campaign:

  • Monthly winning photos will be showcased in The Villages Daily Sun, GrowingBolder.com, and across Growing Bolder’s social media platforms with a video reel, and will be included in a New 65+ booklet created at the end of 2025.
  • The Grand Prize winning photo will be featured in The Villages Daily Sun, GrowingBolder.com, and across Growing Bolder’s Social Media platforms, and will be on the front cover of a New 65+ booklet created at the end of 2025. The Grand Prize Winner will also be featured in a video story created by Growing Bolder to air across their platform and on television.

8. Odds. This is not a game of chance.  Odds of winning depend on the number and quality of eligible Entries.  Sponsor cannot predict the number or quality of Entries.

9. General Considerations. No purchase necessary.  Void where prohibited.  Any Entrant suspected of tampering with or disrupting any aspect of the Contest will be disqualified, along with their Entry, even if their Co-Entrant did not participate in the prohibited behavior.  All decisions of Sponsor are final.  By your participation in the Contest, you (i) agree to be bound by these Official Rules, (ii) agree to release, indemnify, and hold Promotion Entities and all of their officers, directors, employees, and agents harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, and damages of any kind arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in the Contest, or from your acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any Prize, and (iii) agree that any dispute or claim will be resolved individually and without resort to class action. 

10. Limitation of Liability. Sponsor makes no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement with respect to the Prizes.  Some jurisdictions may not permit limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages or exclusion of implied warranties.  Check your local laws to determine if any of the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, incomplete, or unintelligible entries, including entries not received because of interrupted or unavailable network servers, failed communications networks or equipment, computer hardware or software, or other errors or malfunctions whether human, mechanical, or electronic.  Should Sponsor, in its sole discretion, determine that the Contest has been compromised by virus, bugs, hackers, or other causes beyond its control, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the Contest and choose the Winner (or Co-Winners, if applicable) in a fair and reasonable manner from among all eligible entries submitted prior to termination.

11. Privacy. With the exception of (i) the Winner’s (and Co-Winner’s, if applicable) name, city, and state, (ii) information provided by the Winner (and Co-Winner, if applicable) in connection with claiming the Prize, and (iii) any information contained in the Entries themselves, information collected by Sponsor and Administrator solely in connection with the Contest will not be shared with third parties.

12. Winners List. For the name, city, and state of the Winner (and Co-Winner, if applicable), write to Administrator at the address below before February 15, 2026.

How do I enter?

Submit a selfie photo while you are engaged in any activity that brings you joy while in The Villages. As we age, passion powers our purpose, connectivity, and creativity. Passion powers health, wellbeing, and active longevity. Share your passion through a selfie photograph — painting, playing sports, writing, playing an instrument, exercising, cooking, playing cards with friends, or any number of hobbies and interests you have while in The Villages. Enter as many times as you like. 

How will winners be chosen?

Photos will be judged by a third-party professional photographer, with criteria based 50% on The New 65+ theme described above, 25% on style, and 25% on creativity. 

Who can enter?

Contest is free to enter and is open to all photographers, amateur or professional, age 18 or older , who reside in The Villages, Florida for at least one month of the year, and are subject to official rules and regulations. 

What’s the deadline?

Entries must be submitted from 12:01am ET on August 9th, 2025 to 11:59pm ET on November 30th, 2025.

The Prize

  • Each month, we will select one monthly selfie contest winner, from August through December. The award-winning Growing Bolder media team will conduct an online interview with the monthly winner, with the monthly winner’s photo and short story featured in an edition of The Villages Daily Sun, as well as on Growing Bolder’s website and social media channels.
  • One grand prize winner will be selected from the monthly winners in December 2025. This winner will receive a large feature in an edition of The The Villages Daily Sun and will be the cover photo in a special New 65+ booklet at the end of 2025. The Growing Bolder media team will produce an in-person video profile on this winner, to be featured on television and across the Growing Bolder digital and social platforms.
