Author Charlene Edwards has gathered dozens of soldier stories in her moving book, “Voices from Vietnam.”
Rather than focusing on the war itself, she gives readers an intimate look at the lives of both Vietnamese and American troops. She says it’s overwhelming how much men and women from both sides are still struggling to come to grips with the war.
She says the war has also had a profound impact on the generations that followed because many of the vets were never able to move past the terror of the war.
Her book also delves into the secrecy and feelings of disgrace associated with the war, particularly for those vets who are still reluctant to discuss anything about their time in Vietnam.
