Want to know a secret? Many of your favorite bands didn’t play on their own records!
One group of talented studio musicians created the sound of a generation. The band, which came to be known as The Wrecking Crew, played on Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers in the Night,” Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe,” and on records for every band from the Beach Boys to the Mamas and the Papas to the Carpenters and more. They were also the “wall” in producer Phil Spector’s famous Wall of Sound.
For producer and director Denny Tedesco, the film is a tribute to his late father, Tommy Tedesco, who was a guitarist with the group. It took him 12 years to pull all the pieces together and he tells Growing Bolder what drove him to tell this story.
