Phil Taylor was an established artist, working on large-scale murals, graphic design and portraiture. But it was a personal experience with the tragic loss of a childhood friend that truly sparked a life-changing passion.

It all started when he learned that a childhood friend had died in Iraq in 2006. While attending the funeral and learning about his friend’s service, Taylor discovered his true life purpose and launched The American Fallen Soldiers Project.

That project led to the launch of a new original series on INSP called Brush Of Honor — each week, Phil and his life Lisa bring comfort to Gold Star families by providing an original portrait of their loved one. Each portrait is gifted to the families in a public ceremony to honor the fallen, their family and to remind those in attendance of the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms.

Phil speaks with Growing Bolder Radio and shares the emotional connection he feels with each family, and why he’s so proud to host the Brush Of Honor series.
