Taking home a little hardware from our Michigan senior games in track and field! During training months, there is no better feeling than getting up early, walking with my daughter then doing my workouts and being able to say, I have my workouts done before 8:30! Now bring on the day! I do post about my journey because I run for those that can’t. I try to take them along with me on my journey to be an athlete in my 70’s. I hope I can inspire seniors to stay active, keep moving and have fun!

I have fully recovered from my life-threatening heart disease of amyloidosis following my two years of successful chemotherapy treatments recently. Now, at 73, I am very active especially during summers in the Chicago area playing tennis, baseball, basketball and golf along with swimming in outdoor pools and at the beaches on Lake Michigan. I recently won the most points in a United States Tennis Association (USTA) all-ages, fun "pop-up" event at Gallagher Way, next to the Cubs' iconic Wrigley Field, and my "trophy" was not a gold medal but, instead, the attached photo showing me as the "biggest" tennis player in Chicago, as seen with the Gargantuan oversized tennis racquet and oversized tennis ball. A good time was had by all of the players in this city-wide activity.

This photo is my wife, Deb, 68, and me,75, taking a photo op in the “tree tunnel “ at the Kauai, Hawaii marathon & half. Deb ran the half and was 2 of 33 in her age group. I was the oldest participant in the full marathon and was the fastest in my age group and the next younger age group.
