Delbert McClinton’s top 10 hit “Giving It Up for Your Love” is just one hit in his fabled career. Earlier this year, at age 79, he picked up his fourth GRAMMY (Best Traditional Blues Album, “Tall, Dark & Handsome”). On November 4, he will celebrate his 80th birthday. Thanks to the pandemic, it’s the first birthday in decades that he won’t celebrate on stage.
On this week’s What’s Next, Delbert will regale Growing Bolder’s Laura Savini with stories from his 64 years as a professional musician, including the Beatles opening for him, singing backup for Muddy Waters and being one of “the fortunate few.”
