The New 65+ celebrates the achievements and aspirations of older adults who, no matter their age or abilities have found their own way to experience joy and live with passion and purpose.

This is your moment to shine. Snap a selfie doing what inspires you — whether that’s playing sports, volunteering, cooking, gardening, playing music, painting, whatever brings you joy in The Villages! We’ll feature monthly winners in The Villages Daily  Sun and across Growing Bolder media platforms, with a grand prize winner announced in December. Help us share the inspiring message that we can all find our own way to love life beyond the age of 65.

“It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. It’s never too late to do the thing you always wanted to do,” says Bonnie Stein, a dancer, race walker, coach and teacher in The Villages, FL.

For her inspiring example of the benefits of living with passion and purpose, Bonnie has been named the grand prize winner of The New 65+ Selfie Contest, presented by ‪Humana.

“We’re always looking for a magic pill, but that magic pill is inside. Focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t do,” says Stein.

Bonnie’s lifestyle showcases the 5 keys to Health and Wellness that we all can embrace as we age: Stay Positively Focused, Keep Physically Active, Remain Socially Connected, Be Creatively Engaged, and Live Purpose Driven.

Meet the November Monthly Winner

Congratulations to Dale Charrette for being named the final monthly winner of The New 65+ Selfie Contest in The Villages, presented by Humana!

Dale is a member of The Villages Aquatic Swim Team (VAST) and is an accomplished National Senior Games Swimmer. He says his passion for swimming not only keeps him physically and socially active, but has also strengthened his bond with his wife, a dedicated runner in The Villages. His message for others? Find something you are passionate about and join one of the thousands of clubs in The Villages and create a happy, healthier future.

Congratulations to John Prince for being named the latest monthly winner of The New 65+ Selfie Contest in The Villages, presented by Humana!

Prince is a member of The Villages Woodworkers Club, where he and his fellow club members build toys that they donate to local charities to distribute to children around the holidays. He says his passion for woodworking keeps him actively engaged, socially connected and gives him a deep sense of pride and purpose in giving back to his community.

Congratulations to Bonnie Stein for being named the latest monthly winner of The New 65+ Selfie Contest in The Villages, presented by Humana!

Stein believes The Villages is the perfect place to pursue dreams and lead an active, healthy lifestyle. She didn’t take up dancing until her late 40s and now participates in three dance clubs in The Villages. In October, she will lead the Thrill the Villages dance team when they participate in a worldwide simultaneous dance to the song “Thriller”, called Thrill the World.

Congratulations to Anna Hartman for being named the August monthly winner of The New 65+ Selfie Contest in The Villages, presented by Humana!

Hartman says her passion for archery keeps her physically and socially active. She recently brought home a gold medal at the 2025 National Senior Games! She’s proof that it’s never too late to find a new passion, as she didn’t pick up a bow until she moved to The Villages in her 70s.
