Few actors are fortunate enough to bring a role to life in such a memorable way that even decades after that part is finished the character remains an iconic fixture in American pop culture.

That’s exactly what Ed Asner did with his portrayal of newspaper editor Lou Grant.

Now in his 80s, Asner continues with his prolific career, keeping up with a schedule that would exhaust a 25 year old. His work has been honored with 16 Emmy nominations, 7 Emmy Awards and 5 Golden Globes.

He’s also starred in movies, including the Academy Award-winning Disney/Pixar animated movie “Up” and on Broadway, most recently stealing the show in the play “Grace,” also starring Paul Rudd.

Asner also toured the country for several years in a one-man show that received rave reviews, bringing Franklin Roosevelt to life in “FDR.”

Asner tells us that even though he doesn’t look or sound like FDR, he tries to bring his words to life in a way that makes the power of those words resonate with people today.

Plus, find out why his starring role in the Disney/Pixar movie “Up” remains one of his favorite, most magical roles, and he reveals the one role he still wants to play.

And what he think about ageism in Hollywood? He explains why most of the movies featuring older actors have it all wrong.
