Lillie Leonardi served for over 25 years as law enforcement officer, serving as a municipal officer, the chief of police and an FBI agent. She worked the crash site of Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, spending 13 days in Pennsylvania.

She writes about those experiences in her new book, “In the Shadow of a Badge: A Memoir about Flight 93, a Field of Angels, and My Spiritual Homecoming.”

Lillie was trained to handle difficult situations but she explains how her decades of experience couldn’t prepare her for what she saw when she arrived at the crash site. She explains how she came to respond more as a mother and grandmother than as a law enforcement officer.

Plus, she explains the seemingly unbelievable thing she saw at the scene — angels.

How did this experience change her and what does she want others to know? Lillie explains.
