Marianne Williamson is an internationally acclaimed author and lecturer who has appeared regularly on Oprah, Good Morning America and Charlie Rose. Six of her 10 published books have been New York Times bestsellers.

In her newest book, she’s tackling a subject that so many of us deal with yet rarely discuss — emotional suffering. In her book, Tears to Triumph, The Spiritual Journey From Suffering to Enlightenment, Marianne writes about the growing epidemic of emotional suffering and how to overcome the overwhelming sadness so many of us are living with today.

She describes the role she says the pharmaceutical industry plays in labeling normal human suffering as a “medical issue.” She explains what she sees as the difference between sadness and true depression, based in large part upon her decades of experience counseling people who have hit rock bottom and feel as if all hope is lost.

Marianne offers tips for truly cultivating happiness in your life and why spirituality, no matter what you believe in, may be the best path forward. She also weighs in on the good vs. bad of the Internet and how we can all learn to cope with the daily news cycle that seems to leave so many feeling hopeless.

She passionately explains why this is not a time to be numb or cool about things that are happening around the world that are definitely not OK. Get inspired to not bury your head in the sand for fear of being “too depressed” to make a difference.
