Just a few years ago, Amelia Rose Earhart was a TV personality living and working in Denver but she had a crazy dream. She had an unquenchable urge, crazy as it sounded, to recreate the flight of Amelia Earhart.
Despite the fact that she is not related to the famous aviator, her parents were looking to give their daughter the name of an inspirational, courageous and bold woman. Growing up, Amelia Rose wondered if she’d share her namesake’s passion for flight. When she was in her early 20s, she decided to find out and took her first flight lesson. She was hooked.
Ten years later, she was not only a certified pilot, she had a crazy idea — to symbolically complete the flight Amelia Earhart set out on in 1937. Amelia Rose describes her Amelia Project and why she wanted to show other young woman that not only are there still amazing adventures out there, going after your goals is an exciting journey.
She describes her successful flight around the world, which led to her becoming the youngest woman to ever fly around the world in a single-engine airplane. Most importantly, she says, she shares how she hopes it inspires other girls to pursue more STEM education opportunities and to set big goals in life.
Find out what’s next for this bright and enthusiastic adventurer.
