One of the greatest voices in rock music fell silent on July 24, 2012. The lead singer for the band Orleans, Larry Hoppen passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. He was the only member of Orleans who, in the 40 years of the band’s existence never missed a single show!
As great as Larry’s musical talents were, his heart was even greater. His passion was helping the disadvantaged. He was an active participant in a number of causes, and was available, eager and determined to help wherever he could. He was a passionate man who wore his heart on his sleeve, and deeply loved his wife, his daughters, his family and his friends.
This interview took place shortly before his death. In it, Larry reflects on his life, his career and what he hoped would have been his future. He was 60 years old, and seemed on the brink of a new beginning. We present this story as Larry’s legacy. From your own past, you will recognize those songs and you will remember that voice. You’ll be pleased to discover in this interview that he was just as wonderful a person. Larry Lewis Hoppen: 1952-2012
