“Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older? Then, we wouldn’t have to wait so long.”
That’s the very Growing Bolder-appropriate opening track from the 1966 album Pet Sounds from The Beach Boys, led by the legendary Brian Wilson. It’s now considered one of the top records in music history (Paul McCartney has called it his favorite ever, and many critics name it the best of the 20th century).
50+ years later, Wilson celebrated the success of Pet Sounds with a world tour and was planning his next rock and roll album. He’s also openly shared his struggles on and off the stage, including abuse he suffered at the hands of his own father, and his battles with mental health and more.
It’s a candid conversation with a man who spent his life chasing sound and connection.
