Darlene Love

She’s been called one of the greatest singers of all time, praised by both Rolling Stone and the New York Times for not only her voice but her influence on rock and roll. Yet, the majority of the public doesn’t even know her name.

A new documentary just might change that.

“Twenty Feet From Stardom” shines the spotlight on some of music’s most unsung heroes — the backing vocalists, including the great Darlene Love.

From her young start singing in her church choir as a young girl to sharing the studio with the likes of Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Dionne Warwick and Sam Cooke, Darlene shares stories from her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career.

She also talks about her new autobiography “My Name is Love,” and why she made the choice early on to not pursue a solo career. It’s not a decision she regrets but it’s certainly something she’s in the process of changing now with her new solo work.

Despite a career filled with big names and big moments, she explains why this is the best time of her life, free of complications and full of love in her 30+ year marriage.

And at 72 years old, Darlene explains why she’s up at 5 a.m. every day to work out and why she plans to keep on doing that for decades.
