Toto was one of the most successful bands of the 1980s and the voice of Bobby Kimball was one of the reasons why. With hits like Rosanna, Africa and Hold the Line reaching the Top 5, the band’s songs helped define the sound of a generation.

Then, at the height of its popularity, the band fired Kimball. He talks to Growing Bolder about those dark days and how only one thing could bring him joy again — hitting the road to perform live music.
