We try to you show you that it’s never too late to live your dreams, but sometimes we all need a reminder that it’s also never too early to live your dreams.

John Suscovitch is waiting until later in life to pursue his passions. The hard-working twenty-something had a very cool job — doing lighting for the Howard Stern Show. But Sussy the Lighting Guy is leaving the bright lights and big city behind to connect with Mother Earth.

John and his wife, Kate, are about to embark on a 24,000 mile, two-year bicycle trip around the world. Along the way, they will be visiting craft breweries and organic farms.

He said he’s decided to spread his “retirement” out over his lifetime. He said he didn’t want to wait until his working career was over to set off on an adventure like this. He says he sees retirement as a last-case scenario.

For the past couple years, he and his wife have lived frugally to save up for this journey. Along the way, they’ll be working on organic farms and John plans to sell his writings and photos to help fund the trip.

Find out where they plan to travel and why his former boss, Howard Stern, thinks he’s making a big mistake.

John explains why he thinks unconventional jobs and careers are the new conventional and why working a 9-5 job for 40 years is no longer something many people aspire to.
