World-class bodybuilder Anibal Lopez has combined his passions for lifting weights and helping others.
Born in Puerto Rico in 1942, he eventually moved to the projects in the Bronx and lifted his way to international fame winning both the pro Mr. America and Mr. World titles in 1978 and 1980.
Even though he’s now retired from competitive bodybuilding he still works out as vigorously as did during his glory days.
He says as he’s aged, he’s learned to bust a few myths, such as the idea that muscle turns into fat. Anibal says fat turns into fat, so thanks to his training regime, he’s still feeling great about his body.
He says he’s learned how important it is for people over 50 to lift weights. He gives tips for anyone who thinks weight-training is just for bodybuilders.
