Sarah Lawrence-Lightfoot is a distinguished sociologist who realizes that the old version of retirement just doesn’t cut it anymore.
She is a Harvard professor and the author of nine books, including her latest, “The Third Chapter: Passion, Risk and Adventure in the 25 Years After 50.”
Every day, nearly 10,000 Baby Boomers turn 60. Sarah says not only will they be productive, creative and innovative, but they’ll also want to express themselves in new ways.
Sarah says the Third Chapter people — those between 50 and 75 — want to reinvent themselves in ways that will allow them to give back and leave a legacy. She says this is great for our society, particularly since so many are feeling inspired to answer President Obama’s call for a renewed spirit of service to country.
Where does Sarah get her own inspiration? Her mother is 94 years old and remains creative and productive.
