What are you doing to try to prevent cancer? All of us live in fear of it but most of us do nothing. We try to catch it early through diagnostic tests, but we don’t do anything to prevent it.

One woman thinks it makes much more sense to try and prevent it rather than focusing on treating it.

She learned this lesson the hard way.

In 2003, Kris Carr was diagnosed with a rare, incurable stage IV cancer. She chose to live like never before, and in the process, she has created a global wellness revolution.

Shortly after her diagnosis, Kris started documenting her experiences with a camera. The result was the documentary “Crazy Sexy Cancer.” It has since spawned an entire community built around the idea of combining western medicine and alternative methods to not only prevent cancer but minimize its effects.

Kris has appeared regularly on Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN and her books “Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips” and “Crazy Sexy Diet” are best-sellers.

She explains why she came up with the name “crazy sexy cancer” and how it helped her not be stigmatized by the disease.

Kris says before her diagnosis, she didn’t know how to take care of herself. Now, she’s created a blueprint for living that is helping people across the world, whether they have cancer or not.

She explains how social networking is the most powerful tool at her disposal and her plans to change policies about healthy foods in this country.
