AdventHealth Well 65+ Forms Bonds Between Doctors and Patients

AdventHealth Well 65+ has a bold, mission-driven commitment to deliver individualized whole-person care to Central Florida seniors.

It’s a new primary care model for older adults, where each doctor has fewer patients than a traditional primary care setting, and appointment times are longer. This enables doctors to have longer conversations, giving patients more time to ask questions and have quicker access to care when needed.

This new healthcare model not only benefits the patients, but is attracting talented physicians eager to have more time to make a difference in the lives of older adults.

“Appointments are 30 minutes to an hour. Usually you don’t see that in a regular setting. And if I need more time, I can bring patients more often. We have a smaller panel size for our patients. So I am happy to be able to do that in this setting,” said Dr. Joyce Cortes, who practices at AdventHealth Well 65+ in Altamonte Springs, FL.

“My husband is a pediatrician, so he sees young ones, kids, and he sees them once a year or when they get sick,” Cortes continued. “For me, I see my patients every three, four months. I do have the ability to make a difference in their lives, and I do have a real relationship with them, which I really enjoy.”
