The “Gladiator” Crosses Marathon Finish Line at 92

It’s never too late to live your dreams — or even smash some world records.

After a lifetime of running and walking, Gladys Burrill decided she was finally ready to try running her first marathon. And she did it at the age of 86.

Now 92, the Gladiator is still running.

She recently crossed the finish line for her fifth marathon in seven years and ran her way into the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest woman ever to complete a marathon.

This self-described shy, poor little farm girl never imagined she’d be the type to end up in the history books. But with every step she takes, that’s where she finds herself.

Gladys explains how praying helps her cross the finish line and how running is like other challenges she’s faced in her life, including surviving polio at the age of 11.

Find out how many miles she walks each week (here’s a hint, by the end of the year, she racks up thousands of miles) and why she’s always been an adventure seeker.
