ORLANDO (June 30, 2021) – Amy Sweezey, former WESH-Channel 2 meteorologist, who was named Broadcaster of the Year by the National Weather Association, will hit the airwaves this weekend – the first time since leaving Channel 2 last year. Sweezey, who has been serving as a special projects producer at Growing Bolder, will be one of the co-hosts of “What’s Next,” a new commercial TV program from Growing Bolder that will air on WESH-Channel 2 and other broadcasting stations across Florida.

Sweezey, a veteran journalist who was a popular fixture on the Central Florida TV scene for nearly 20 years, has been honored with numerous awards, including Best Weather Reporting by the Florida Associated Press. She is the author of two children’s books and also created two weather workbooks for students. She has over 67,000 social media followers.

“I feel like I’m living the Growing Bolder mantra by reinventing myself right as I enter a new decade of life,” Sweezey said. “I’ve admired Growing Bolder since its beginning, especially Marc Middleton’s vision, mission and plan to rebrand aging.”

Middleton, the CEO and founder of Growing Bolder, the world’s No. 1 content producer for the 50+ market, is a former colleague of Sweezey’s.

“What made Amy a world class meteorologist wasn’t her certification. It was her communication skills, storytelling ability, and relentless curiosity,” Middleton said. “In addition to her compelling on-air presence, she’s a multitalented content producer who doesn’t need to be in front of a weather map to make a difference. She’s a tremendous asset in an increasingly diverse, digital media world with an insatiable appetite for quality content,”

Sweezey was originally hired as a Special Projects Producer, where she researched and produced several projects. In addition to her new role as a reporter and co-host at Growing Bolder, Sweezey also has become one of the go-to writers for the Growing Bolder website and lifestyle magazine, which has more than 200,000 subscribers.

Prior to joining WESH-Channel 2, Sweezey was a broadcast meteorologist at WWMT-Channel 3 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago and received a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Sweezey arrived at a time when Growing Bolder is experiencing phenomenal growth. In the past year, the company moved into a new, 10,000-square-foot office in Orlando, tripled its staff and formed significant partnerships with Florida Blue Medicare and the Alliance for Lifetime Income.
