Chip Conley Wants You to Unfix Your Mindset

Chip Conley is a true agent of transformation. He’s a New York Times bestselling author who totally disrupted the hospitality industry, not once, but twice. When he was just 26 years old, he founded a company named “Joie de Vivre Hospitality.” He transformed a run-down, inner city motel in San Francisco into the second largest boutique hotel brand in America.

Then in 2010, Conley was engaged by a group of young entrepreneurs to become the Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy for Airbnb. He helped turn their startup from just an idea into the world’s leading hospitality brand.

While still acting as an advisor to Airbnb, Conley is now helping older adults and changing lives. In 2018, he founded the Modern Elder Academy in Baja, Mexico. It’s the world’s very first wisdom school that’s dedicated to helping people navigate their mid-life. Conley defines “Middlelescense” as a time to find your midlife calling. He shares the impact of being in a growth mindset instead of a fixed mindset, and how elders can learn to be beginners again.
