When Growing Bolder met Onie Ponder, she was 110 years old and had voted in every Presidential election since 1920. She was the oldest person in Florida and 86th oldest in the world. And she was still amazingly spry, witty and charming.

She may have been breaking longevity records, but we were just as impressed by her life philosophy — one that anyone at any age can and should strive to adopt: “I just love living every day and doing the best I can. It’s a simple thing.”

Onie Ponder passed away on December 31, 2010 at the age of 112. She was the world’s 21st oldest living person at the time.
